Entry Level Accounting Associate - Tampa, FL

We are seeking resumes for an Accounting Associate (1 Opening) in our Tampa, FL facility.

Description of role: Responsible for the processing of accounts payable, invoicing, and other accounting operational tasks. Will assist Controller, Credit Manager, and HR Manager as needed. This position is an entry level training position, and is a part of the GIFT program (Generational Investment for Tomorrow).

What is PCA’s GIFT Program? PCA GIFT is a comprehensive training program designed to give the incumbent experience in all departments of a containerboard plant and the packaging industry as a whole. Departments include Production, Design, Sales, Accounting, Customer Service and Quality. The training lasts anywhere from 10-14 months. At the end of the training, the incumbent transitions into a full-time position either at the sponsoring plant, or another plant that has an opening in the field they desire to pursue. The program is designed to help build bench strength across all departments for future management and growth opportunities.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for adhering to accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. 

  • Complies with all Company policies and Ethical Standards.

  • Administer all aspects of accounts payable.

  • Daily Invoicing (including commercial invoices for export shipments)

  • Review bills for payment (match invoices with purchase orders). Check for proper approvals and authorizations. Enter and process payments. 

  • Organizes and oversees office operations and procedures such as supply orders, information management, accounting records and filing systems.

  • Month-end Accruals for Accounts Payable

  • Assist Controller in month-end closing, capital projects, fixed assets accounting, sales tax reporting, government surveys, forecasting, and budgeting. 

  • Assist Credit Manager with releasing orders on hold, credit reports, and collection efforts.

  • Assist Human Resources Manager with day to day operations, if needed.

  • Additional duties as assigned by management

Basic Qualifications:

  • Graduation date between December 2017 and May 2018 required.

  • Education equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree required.

  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Microsoft Access, a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, prioritizing assignments, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail

  • Ability to travel as needed. The GIFT class travels 3 times per year for professional development training and networking
